Separated finitely supported $Cb$-sets
The monoid $Cb$ of name substitutions and the notion of finitely supported $Cb$-sets introduced by Pitts as a generalization of nominal sets. A simple finitely supported $Cb$-set is a one point extension of a cyclic nominal set. The support map of a simple finitely supported $Cb$-set is an injective map. Also, for every two distinct elements of a simple finitely supported $Cb$-set, there exists...
متن کاملProjections of Planar Cantor Sets in Potential Theory
We will present a topological theorem about fairly arbitrary functions from K(R’) into [0, ce) that will include these two examples as special cases. Particularly interesting is that the construction of our examples uses only a few topological properties of capacity whereas Monterie’s constructions require detailed knowledge of the capacity function in the form of a rather technical criterion f...
متن کاملDistance Sets of Well-distributed Planar Sets for Polygonal Norms
Let X be a 2-dimensional normed space, and let BX be the unit ball in X. We discuss the question of how large the set of extremal points of BX may be if X contains a well-distributed set whose distance set ∆ satisfies the estimate |∆ ∩ [0, N ]| ≤ CN3/2− . We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a well-distributed set with |∆ ∩ [0, N ]| ≤ CN .
متن کاملDistance Sets of Well-Distributed Planar Point Sets
We prove that a well-distributed subset of R2 can have a distance set ∆ with #(∆ ∩ [0, N ]) ≤ CN3/2− only if the distance is induced by a polygon K. Furthermore, if the above estimate holds with = 1/2, then K can have only finitely many sides.
متن کاملOn well-separated sets and fast mutipole methods
The notion of well-separated sets is crucial in fast multipole methods as the main idea is to approximate the interaction between such sets via cluster expansions. We revisit the one-parameter multipole acceptance criterion in a general setting and derive a relative error estimate. This analysis benefits asymmetric versions of the method, where the division of the multipole boxes is more libera...
